There are some moments that you wouldn’t trade for anything else in the world. For a single, working mother, it was the only day she ever became a stay-at-home mom, after working most of her son’s life.

In a Reddit post on Monday (September 28), a mom (u / lappelduvideforever) shared how she “came to be a [Stay-at-home mum] briefly ”that morning.

The single mother shared that she “has always had a full-time job and a part-time job” ever since her son’s father left when he was just a baby.

“I woke him up when it was still dark to leave him with my parents so they could prepare him for school because he had to be at work very early,” she said.

Even now that her son has grown up and lives with her, they still don’t spend much time together.

If it weren’t for a sinus infection that justified the mother’s absence due to illness, she would not otherwise have been able to spend precious moments with her 21-year-old son.

Like the little moments of being able to make breakfast for your child and chat over coffee.

“He couldn’t find something for school and I was able to find it for him,” wrote the mother who “would have to run out the door” on a typical workday.

According to her, she also managed to wash her clothes for work and school that morning.

“He gave me a hug before he left and told me that this morning was nice (I didn’t tell him I took a sick day),” she shared. “My son is already grown and almost out of the nest, but today was a blessing that I will appreciate.”

“As an adult child, mornings like these mean a world,” commented one user.

For others, the mother’s story was a reminder “to better enjoy each moment and not take it for granted.”

Also, having to raise a young child without help from anyone is not easy, and users praise the single mother.

In fact, every moment we spend with our loved ones and children is as precious as possible. No matter how old our children have grown, there will never be such a thing as spending too much time with them.
