Tottenham continued their brilliant form in front of goal by condemning Manchester United to a shocking 6-1 defeat.
Just after scoring seven in their Europa League play-off win over Maccabi Haifa, Spurs headed to Old Trafford with José Mourinho looking to outwit their former employers.
United won a penalty in the first minute when Davinson Sánchez dropped Anthony Martial in the area. As usual, Bruno Fernandes took him for the hosts, and calmly sent him into the bottom corner to give United the lead.
But the lead didn’t last long, due to a messy defense from United’s bottom line. Tanguy Ndombele pounced on a fumble in the area to equalize just two minutes later.
And the fast start to the game continued as Son Heung-Min moved behind the United defense to grab Harry Kane’s direct pass from a quick free kick. The South Korean striker dropped David De Gea to give Tottenham a 2-1 lead in less than eight minutes.
7 – Man Utd v Tottenham is first @premierleague match to see three goals scored in the first seven minutes since Burnley v Man City in April 2010, and the first in which both teams scored since Nottingham Forest v Man Utd in February 1999. Insanity. #MUNTOT pic.twitter.com/o5M3TFERSN

United came close to a tie when Marcus Rashford hit the post, but the flag had been raised offside anyway.
However, De Gea was the busiest goalkeeper, having to thwart an effort by Serge Aurier, as well as relying on his defenders to block shots from Sergio Reguilon and Ndombele.
Martial sees red before Spurs extend lead
Things went from bad to worse for United when Martial was sent off for putting his hand to Erik Lamela’s face.
What’s going on!? 🤯

Moments later, Kane intercepted a fumble from Eric Bailly to Nemanja Matic, before the Spurs worked the ball well in the area to create an opportunity for the forward. Kane shot home to make it 3-1.
And Son added a quarter in the 37th minute when he snuck into the near post to deflect the ball under De Gea’s legs from a tight angle.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a double substitution at halftime, retiring Matic and Fernandes in favor of Fred and Scott McTominay.
But the changes didn’t have an immediate effect, as the Spurs extended their lead to five minutes into the second half. Serge Aurier cleared on the right side of the area, producing a serene finish at De Gea to make it 5-1.
Y Tottenham got a sixth when Kane shot home a penalty after Paul Pogba brought down Ben Davies in the area. De Gea was on the right track, but had no chance of saving Kane’s powerful kick.
United were lucky to finish the game even with 10 men when Luke Shaw only received a yellow card for a challenge from behind Lucas Moura.
It would have added insult to injury, as United had already suffered enough.
