Newcastle United are sixth in the Premier League table after a comfortable win over Burnley.
The Magpies were left with 3-1 winners at St James’ Park and are heading to the international break with seven points out of a possible 12.
Allan Saint-Maximin opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a great solo goal with the Magpies dominating the first 45 minutes.
Burnley wore a different side after the interval and put pressure on Newcastle, getting a draw just after the hour mark.
United, however, quickly returned to the front with Callum Wilson hitting a Saint-Maximin cross home, and the game ended moments later with a penalty from the Magpies’ number 13.

The magpies had lacked a striker who had that instinct in the area, a striker who if the ball fell once in a game, would bet his home that it was a goal.
They have it now in Callum Wilson.
The Toon No. 13 has scored four goals in as many Premier League games, and it looks like one of the purchases of the summer.
Against Burnley, he had only three shots on goal and only two on goal, those two? They were goals.
United have for so long lacked that clinical advantage in front of goal, but with Wilson, who before tonight had only three shots on goal from Newcastle in the first three games of the league campaign, they now have it.
5 – the number of fouls committed by Allan Saint-Maximin
The flying Frenchman was kicked all over the field tonight, but Burnley couldn’t stop him from scoring his first goal of the season and setting Callum Wilson up for the second of the night.
From the get-go, Saint-Maximin tormented Burnley’s defense, who couldn’t keep up with the pace and the tricks.
He was fouled five times, the most of any United player.
90% – Allan Saint-Maximin’s passing accuracy
Sometimes the forward can be guilty of making wrong decisions when he has the ball at his feet, but tonight he was clinical with his passing.
He made 20 passes, two key passes and delivered three crosses, with a passing accuracy of 90%.
Javier Manquillo topped the charts with 100% after entering the 52nd minute.
Jonjo Shelvey was third on the list with 85.3%, and he had substantially more passes than anyone else at 61.
4 – the number of minutes between the Burnley equalizer and the NUFC second
It’s arguably the biggest point in the game as Newcastle weathered the storm and regained the lead after just four minutes.
Burnley had deservedly tied through an astonishing blow from Ashley Westwood as United struggled to contain them; whatever Sean Dyche had said at halftime certainly worked.
When the ball landed in goal, it was a crucial moment in the game: both sides in a vulnerable position, but it was United who capitalized.
A burst of speed from Allan Saint-Maximin down the right, past two defenders, to put a wonderful cross on a plate for Wilson.
From then on, United looks in charge.
10 – the number of clearances made by Federico Fernández
The Argentine was a rock at the rear, and alongside Fabian Schar and later Emil Krafth, he resisted the physical presence of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes.
It was a battle that was always going to be won in the air, and seven of 10 of Fernández’s punts were headed.
Tonight again proved why Steve Bruce was so interested in extending his stay.
