SINGAPORE – There were six new confirmed coronavirus cases as of Saturday afternoon (October 3), including one community case and four imported cases.
This is the lowest number of cases since March 5, which saw five new cases.
A Singaporean is the only community case reported on Saturday (October 3), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
The latest increase brings Singapore’s total number of cases to 57,800.
More details about the cases will be released Saturday night.
10 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Friday, the lowest daily figure reported since March 12, when there were nine cases.
They include a community case, which is the holder of a work permit, five imported cases and four migrant workers living in dormitories.
Of the five imported cases, a Singaporean, a permanent resident and a dependent’s pass holder arrived from India between September 16 and 20.
A holder of a short-term pass, who is a six-year-old girl, and a holder of a work permit arrived from Indonesia on September 18 and 20, respectively, were the other unforeseen cases.
All imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.
Of the four migrant workers, one had previously been identified as a contact from previous cases and was already in quarantine to prevent further transmission.
He tested positive for Covid-19 during his quarantine period.
The remaining three cases were detected through surveillance tests, the ministry said.
The number of new daily cases in the community has remained stable at an average of less than one in the last two weeks.
The number of unrelated cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of less than one case per day during the same period.
With 22 cases discharged yesterday, 57,519 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 48 patients remain in the hospital, none in intensive care, while 185 recover in community facilities.
Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 34.4 million people. More than a million people have died.
