José Mourinho praised Eric Dier as a “great example” after explaining the bizarre incident in which the English international left the pitch in Tottenham’s Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea.
Spurs led Chelsea to penalties after Erik Lamela scored early to disallow Timo Werner’s first goal.

Dier explains the incident
Dier himself also shed light on the incident, while highlighting how proud he was of the performance at the end.
“I’m so happy, I’m proud of how we played outside of the first 15 minutes,” said the defender. “We showed them too much respect but then we were fantastic.
“After playing on Sunday it was not easy, maybe that was the reason why I had to run, but we got over it. All the staff and players tried hard.
“José was not happy, but I couldn’t do anything about it, nature was calling me. I heard there was a possibility while I was off the pitch, but luckily they didn’t score. “
