Manchester United are preparing a transfer for Ismaila Sarr if they fail to reach a deal for No. 1 target Jadon Sancho this week.
That is the news of the Daily telegraph, who also claims that United “finally made an offer for Porto left-back Alex Telles.”
The newspaper claims United have inquired about the availability of the Watford forward while they look for serious alternatives to Sancho.
United officials have so far failed to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over Sancho. The Bundesliga team is refusing to compromise on its £ 108 million valuation of the 20-year-old.
Sarr has been strongly linked to a departure from Watford since they were relegated from the Premier League.
Liverpool were mentioned as possible suitors, but since then they have signed Diogo Jota.
TEAMtalk was told earlier this month that Watford’s new boss Vladimir Ivic would like to revive his team with some new signings. And the sale of Sarr would give them funds to launch the club’s attempts to return to the Premier League.
Watford’s finances have been stretched after his relegation to the Championship. While the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis have also hit hard. That is why they may be open to selling to Sarr, who has also attracted the interest of other Premier League clubs.
Manchester United were linked with the forward and recently the Daily express said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had stepped up his search for the Watford man.
No loan option for £ 40m man
The Telegraph They are now also suggesting that a move for Sarr is looming, although they say United “has not commented when asked about an investigation for Sarr.”
Watford is prepared to approach Sarr before the national window closes on October 16.
The report says that getting a winger on loan would be ideal for United as they would still seek a move for Sancho at a later date. However, Sarr is believed to only be available with a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old Sarr scored six Premier League goals last season after arriving at Vicarage Road last summer from Rennes in a £ 25 million deal.
