SINGAPORE – 15 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed as of noon on Monday (September 28), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,715.

They included two community cases, both with work passes, said the Ministry of Health (MINSA).

There were also six imported cases, which had received a notice of admission upon arrival in Singapore.

More details will be announced Monday night.

On Sunday, two of the five new imported Covid-19 cases announced by the Ministry of Health are permanent residents, while the remaining three are holders of work permits.

The permanent residents returned to Singapore from India on September 15 and last Friday.

The work permit holders are currently employed in Singapore and arrived on September 15.

One came from Indonesia, while the other two came from the Philippines, the Health Ministry said.

All of them had received a 14-day stay-at-home notice upon arrival in Singapore, and were tested while serving the notice in specialized facilities.

15 new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of Sunday, and no new community cases were reported.

Migrant workers staying in dormitories made up the remaining 10 new coronavirus patients.

Six had previously been identified as contacts from previous cases and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission.

They were tested during their quarantine period. The remaining four cases were detected by surveillance tests.

Of the new cases, 93 percent are imported or linked to known cases or groups, while the rest are pending contact tracing, the Health Ministry said.

No new clusters or new locations visited by infectious patients with Covid-19 were announced on Sunday.

The group of dormitories at 51 Paya Ubi industrial park was closed because no new cases have been linked for 28 days, or two incubation periods, the health ministry added.

The number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of less than one case per day in the last two weeks.

The number of unrelated cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of less than one case per day in the same period.

With eight cases discharged on Sunday, 57,352 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

A total of 31 patients remained in the hospital, none in intensive care, while 275 recovered in community facilities.

Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 33 million people. More than 998,000 people have died.
