SINGAPORE – 20 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed as of noon on Saturday (September 26), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,685.

These include a patient from the community who has a work pass, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

There were also five imported cases that had been placed on notice of admission upon arrival in Singapore.

More details will be announced Saturday night.

On Friday, 11 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed. This is the lowest daily number of new patients since Sept. 18, when 11 new infections were also reported.

New patients on Friday included two imported cases that included a work pass holder and a work permit holder.

They returned from India and the Philippines on September 13.

Both imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.

There were no new community cases for the second consecutive day.

Migrant workers living in dormitories made up the remaining nine of 11 new coronavirus patients announced Friday.

Seven had been previously identified as contacts from previous cases and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission. They were tested during quarantine.

The remaining two cases were detected by surveillance tests.

No new clusters were announced on Friday.

The number of new daily cases in the community in a week has remained stable at an average of less than one case per day in the last two weeks.

The number of unrelated cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of less than one case per day during the same period.

With eight cases discharged on Friday, 57,326 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

A total of 29 patients remain in hospital, none in intensive care, while 268 recover in community facilities.

Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive had died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 32 million people. More than 990,000 people have died.
