SINGAPORE: A 14-year-old girl was among 162 suspected drug offenders who were arrested during a two-week operation across the island, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said on Friday (September 25).
The teenager was the youngest person ever arrested and is a suspected drug abuser, CNB added.
Drugs with an estimated value of S $ 260,500 were also seized during the September 14-25 operation, which covered several areas, including Jurong West, Bukit Panjang, Paya Lebar, Balestier and Tampines.
In one case, CNB agents arrested a 38-year-old man on September 14 near Eng Hoon Street in Tiong Bahru for alleged drug trafficking activities.
Ten ecstasy tablets and a packet containing approximately 3 g of powdered mix, believed to be a mix of ice and ecstasy, were recovered.

The man was taken to his hideout in the same area, where a 30-year-old woman was detained.
During a search of the unit, CNB officers seized 55 packages containing approximately 322 g of ice, 51 packages containing approximately 148 g of ketamine, and 31 packages containing 185 ecstasy tablets.
Authorities also found 88 tablets of Erimin-5 and a package containing 11 g of powdered mix, believed to be a mix of ice and ecstasy.
Cash worth S $ 20,000 and various drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the unit.
In another case, CNB agents raided two hotel rooms in the Beach Road area and arrested four men and a woman between the ages of 34 and 56.
A total of 122 packets containing approximately 858 g of heroin, 71 packets containing approximately 133 g of ice, 104 ecstasy tablets and one Erimin-5 tablet were recovered from two hotel rooms. A Karambit knife was also seized in one of the rooms, along with various drug paraphernalia.

During the raid, CNB officers discovered that a 35-year-old suspected drug trafficker had his 12-year-old son with him. The drugs were “openly displayed in front of his son” in the room, CNB said.
The 36-year-old mother of the boy was also arrested during the raid for alleged drug offenses.
“Arrangements were made to ensure the well-being of the 12-year-old was taken care of. The child was subsequently placed in the safe custody of a close relative, ”CNB said.
Investigations are under way into the drug-related activities of all the arrested suspects.
