Times are tough these days with the global pandemic, but it’s always nice to know that one can make almost $ 10,000 for a full month by being a (really, hard-working) private rental driver.
According to a Facebook post from Singapore passenger transport service Ryde on Thursday (September 24), a driver managed to raise a total of $ 9,882.70 for the month of August 2020 after completing 723 pickups. This is the amount you earned after subtracting the service fee and the platform fee.
Which is a spectacular feat considering that the Covid-19 outbreak has had quite a significant impact on the use of transportation services. But again, some people prefer to take a car for a ride rather than be in close contact with the crowds on buses and trains.
How does Does one even manage to earn that same coin working with only one transport service? When queried by AsiaOne, a Ryde spokesperson stated that the driver worked every day during the month of August, usually starting work at 6.45am

The point is, he’s not even the top winner of Ryde. Nonetheless, the driver is said to be in the upper band in terms of driver earnings, helped greatly by his consistency in “stellar ratings,” averaging 4.95 out of 5.
“Even amid the pandemic, our drivers continue to make good profits,” said Ryde’s spokesman, adding that the company has been charging lower fees for some services to help drivers earn more during these turbulent times.
In fact, the driver could take home more than $ 10,000 for his hard work, as he is on track to receive an additional $ 1,000 pay. Ryde’s spokesperson clarified that the man has done well in the Ryde 2.5K Challenge, in which his driver-partners must complete certain tasks between September 18 and the end of the year to earn bonuses.

“We are happy for him and hope he will serve as a source of inspiration for our driving partners,” the spokesperson said.
