Dealing with difficult clients is just one of the downsides of working in the service industry. Unfortunately, the staff at an Ang Mo Kio supermart are at their wits’ end after numerous visits from a repeat offender, says the store manager.
The man, who has allegedly harassed Angel Supermart staff for years, was arrested on Thursday (September 24) for burglary, police confirmed.
The 54-year-old, who had been kicked out of the store earlier, entered the store that day without wearing a face mask and vomited vulgarities at the employees.
It’s far from the first time the man caused trouble at the store, Daniel Tan, the store owner, shared on Facebook.
Tagging police at his post, Tan, 40, wrote that he was “starting to lose count” of the number of times he had called them for help.
“When can our staff get protection against ruffians like this?” He questioned, detailing how the man had previously threatened the store’s employees and even waited for them outside the store to “settle scores.”
The man’s behavior has made his staff afraid to show up for work. Some have quit out of fear, Tan said.
“Does anyone have to be assaulted or killed before anything is done?”
His post included surveillance footage showing the man entering the store Thursday night and confronting employees on duty.
When a male staff member told him that he was “not welcome,” the man was outraged and blurted out a series of vulgarities.
He also called one employee “Chinese” and another “Filipino b ******.”
Police investigations are ongoing.
For breaking and entering, violators could face up to three months in prison, a fine of up to $ 1,500, or both.
