SINGAPORE – A man who was filmed trampling another man lying on the ground was indicted in court on Thursday (September 24).

Lee Sai Hua, 45, was charged with one count of willfully causing serious injury to a Heah Swee Heng on the empty deck of Block 182A Rivervale Crescent, by kicking, punching, kicking and hitting him on the head.

Heng is said to have suffered a facial fracture from the assault, which took place on Tuesday, and was filmed and posted online.

In the video, Lee, who is carrying a plastic bag, is seen attacking Heng while the latter lies face up on the ground. Lee alternately kicks, punches, slaps, and stomps Heng, who remains motionless at all times. At one point, Lee also gestures to Heng.

Police were alerted to the fight at 3.44pm. When officers arrived at the scene, Lee, a Singaporean, had fled. Heng was later transferred consciously to Sengkang General Hospital.

Heng is currently seeking treatment there and is in stable condition, according to police.

Officers were able to establish Lee’s identity through police cameras and ground investigations. Lee was arrested within hours.

If convicted of willfully causing serious harm, he faces a jail term of up to ten years and a fine or beating.
