In an attempt to escape authorities, a man fell and died from an HDB block along 31 Bukit Batok Street on Monday (September 21) afternoon.

When agents from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) broke into his rented apartment, the 63-year-old climbed through the kitchen window and fell.

The shirtless man lay motionless in a pool of blood at the foot of the block, a resident who declined to be identified told Lianhe Wanbao.

An ambulance and a police vehicle arrived at the scene shortly.

Residents who alerted Wanbao to the incident mentioned that the area was cordoned off with police tape. The body of the deceased was later removed from the scene, but blood stains remained on the ground.

CNB said in a statement Tuesday that it raided an HDB floor on the ninth floor as a follow-up operation to a drug bust.

The man, who was suspected of drug trafficking, refused to allow officers to enter the apartment and died shortly after. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The deceased’s younger sister identified his body in the morgue this morning and told the newspaper that he used to live with her.

He was later incarcerated for an unidentified crime and moved out of his home after serving his sentence.

They had barely kept in touch for the past two years, and she only learned of his death after the police visited her.
