A 24-year-old woman was arrested for seizing a motor vehicle without the consent of its owner after crashing a car on a playground in Jalan Berseh last Thursday (September 17).

In response to an inquiry from Stomp, police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car along Jalan Berseh at 11:42 a.m.

Several Stompers alerted Stomp to a video that was circulated showing police officers on the scene and search dogs from the K-9 unit searching for the yellow car.

According to Shin Min Daily News, there were more than 20 policemen at the scene that lasted four hours.

A 49-year-old food delivery man, who witnessed the incident, said he heard the engine noise and saw the car go into the playground. The car only stopped when it hit a stone bench.

Then a female passenger got out of the car, but the driver’s door was stuck.

The witness added: “When the driver opened her car door, she ran upstairs and left her passenger behind. She returned after half an hour with a new set of clothes.”

Police took statements from the two women, who denied being the driver. One of them finally admitted to driving the car, Shin Min reported.

Reporters at the scene noted that the driver was injured in her left hand and calf, while the passenger had both hands bandaged.

The couple had reportedly suffered injuries in another traffic accident just two days ago.

Family members at the scene were heard reprimanding the two women for having an accident once again, the witness said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
