Heung-min Son proves his worth to Tottenham with a four-goal super show in Southampton

Heung-min Son scored four times and Harry Kane created four assists and scored in an extraordinary game that saw Tottenham come back to beat Southampton 5-2.

After a goal disallowed for each team in the first half, Danny Ings gave the hosts a deserved lead in the 32nd minute after he brilliantly clung to Kyle Walker-Peters’ pass and finished low on Hugo Lloris.

The Spurs were beginning to push themselves, but against the game’s progress they re-entered just before halftime after Kane threw an early ball to Son, who passed Alex McCarthy into the Saints’ net.

Heung-min Son was lethal during his team’s 5-2 win

Many may have predicted a fairly even second half, but the Spurs rampaged, with the Southampton defense all over the place.

Son got his second just two minutes after the break when he ran away from his markers after Kane’s pass and finished cold.

And it was the same duo that combined to see Son complete his hat-trick after a beautiful chip pass left him free to score again.

Surprisingly, they didn’t finish there, as in the 73rd minute Kane was the supplier for the fourth time when his wonderful center found Son to overtake McCarthy.

And Kane finally got the goal he deserved eight minutes later after he hit home plate when Erik Lamela hit the post.

Harry Kane also had four assists and a goal

There was still time for Southampton to comfort themselves late with an Ings penalty, but the game will be remembered for two wonderful individual performances.

The result sees the Spurs rebound from their opening day loss at home to Everton, and they will hope to pick up some momentum with three games to come next week.

On Tuesday they will face Leyton Orient in the Carabao Cup, Macedonian Shkendija in the Europa League on Thursday and finally Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.
