Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asked for more patience after failing to provide a positive update on his club’s search for new signings.

Hunting for United to sign Jadon sancho Borussia Dortmund has shown the transfer saga of the current window.

After an initial teaser in personal terms, the £ 108 million transfer fee remains the sticking point. United feel the fee is unrealistic in the current climate, but Dortmund refuse to budge.

As such, the conversation about the deal has been muted, with the Red Devils just bringing Donny van de Beek up to this point.

Pressed on the latest developments at Friday’s press conference, Solskjaer didn’t offer much hope.

When asked about Sancho, the manager said: “Of course we have done some business with Donny, we are very happy and delighted to have him.

“He is an exceptional and overwhelming boy who will give us something. I can’t say anything about the players from other clubs, I can’t speculate. We understand that to go further we need to develop what we have and strengthen the team.

“But let’s wait and see if we can bring someone in. I have been in dialogue with the club, we are always arguing and let’s see if we can bring someone.”

Solskjaer was also asked about reports that United has been frustrated with social media users demanding a deal for Sancho.

However, the manager explained that the success of his previous acquisitions means he deserves more faith in Old Trafford.

“The fans will always want the best possible team to watch, the best possible Man Utd team and that’s the passion we want and the history we have.” the norwegian said.

“We can look back 10 or 20 years and look back at the great players that we have and, for me, forward, since Sir Alex left, we have been in fifth place.

“Last season we got third place, which was a big step forward, everyone saw the development with Bruno [Fernandes] coming in, Harry [Maguire] Be a captain and show leadership skills.

“Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] he did well, we want to take a step forward and we can enter the new season with confidence, but we are looking to give the group a kick and we are working on it ”.

United will face Crystal Palace on Saturday in their first game of the Premier League season at Old Trafford.
