Actors sometimes enter show business without any knowledge of the trade.

In Desmond Tan’s case, his lack of performing arts prowess caused the production team a lot of pain. It was so bad that the cameraman even left the film set and simply told his assistant to hit the record button.

On the most recent episode of Hear U Out , a meWATCH talk show from local host Quan Yi Fong , Desmond, 34, confessed that when he started out as an actor, he was terrible and between 30 and 40 NG (‘shots don’t good or unusable) on a particular shoot.

He said, “The cameraman left.”

“He intentionally said to his assistant out loud, ‘I’m not filming anymore. You help me press the record button.’ Then he went for coffee. He wanted to let me know. [he was unhappy]Desmond added.

Initially, he said that the crew members were friendly and told him not to worry. However, as time passed, his patience was wearing thin. Even the lighting technician cast a shadow on him.

“To the end [of the shoot]He sighed and said, ‘Do you even know how to act?’ Desmond recalled with self-deprecation.

Despite the fact that he has been named one of the eight Dukes of Caldecott Hill and has been in business since 2008, he was not ashamed of the fact that he knew nothing about acting when he signed on as an artist. In fact, he initially wanted to be a singer.

To that end, he auditioned for the first and second seasons of the reality singing competition Project Superstar while still in the National Service (NS).

He passed the first round of auditions in season two, but was unable to advance to the next round because he was still in the military. However, a member of the production team noticed this and advised him to complete his NS and take a look at the competencies available at the time.

Coincidentally, Star Search was running the year he completed his NS and was invited to join the competition. Desmond said he thought it was just a warm body to fill the quota, as he didn’t know anything about acting. So he just “joined for fun.”

He couldn’t even think of a special talent when the production team asked him other than singing, but then he realized that he wasn’t much better at singing than the others and he needed something else. Thus, she learned to mix drinks and scored quite high on the talent portion of the show.

But he was left behind when the competition turned to the acting part. However, he finished as one of the runners-up, after Jerry Yeo, who left show business, and champion Andie Chen.

It doesn’t hurt that Desmond is also quite attractive.

When asked by Yi Fong if he was handsome, Desmond cheekily replied, “I think I’m fine. Better than average … I personally don’t look handsome, but I have style.”
