Residents have been frustrated by a car whose alarm has been ringing non-stop in the dead of night while parked in a multi-story parking lot in Block 468 Fernvale Link.

So much so that they collectively left a handwritten note on the black Hyundai Elantra, telling its owner to be more considerate.

Stomper re shared a video of the car alarm that went off in the early hours of Friday (September 11), around 2.25am.

Irritated by the din? Well, it’s the norm for surrounding residents, who are plagued by noise all night.

re He said the car alarm has been ringing “multiple times in the middle of the night every day” for “no reason”, and that it has been going on “for at least four months since April 2020.”

He told Stomp: “The car alarm has been going off in the middle of the night from 1.30am to 7.30am every day. This is a nightmare for us.

“It has been a nuisance and annoyance to the residents here, and it has really caused a lot of stress for many of us. Some of us have a hard time getting a good night’s sleep after a long day at work.

“One of my neighbors, who stands right in front of the parking lot, has also been bothered with this car in recent months.

“When your car alarm goes off for no reason in the middle of the night, it scares your newborn twin daughters and wakes them up from their sleep.

“This also makes it difficult for the couple, as they have to appease their newborn twin babies to go back to sleep and they cannot get enough sleep at night, despite having to work early the next day.

“As for me, I am a light sleeper and the car alarm has also made my dog bark. Even animals like dogs cannot bear that noise either.

“My dog used to not behave like this. Since the car alarm went off, my dog’s behavior changed as well.

“I even took my dog to see a vet because I thought he might be sick. The vet asked me if there were any changes in the environment that I stay in and I remembered that the car alarm went off for no reason in the middle of the night.

“In the past my dog slept in the living room, but now I have to take him to sleep with me in the bedroom. I also have to close my bedroom door and turn on the air conditioning to sleep every night now, unlike before.

“I suspect that the owner of the car is aware of this problem since from what I know from my neighbors who drive, they said they had written a note and placed it on the windshield of the car.”

According to D, a note was left in the car around midnight on Monday (September 14).

D, who used to own a car and was an auto mechanic who installed car sound and alarm systems, speculated on what might be causing the nonstop rumble.

The Stomper shared: “In my experience, there could be a few reasons why the alarm keeps going off:

  1. The car doors did not close properly when locked.

  2. The car alarm has a sound or vibration sensor.

  3. Motion detection linked to the car camera, if any, will also alarm when there is movement.

  4. The alarm has a set timer.

  5. The alarm is faulty.

D added: “Lately, the car driver has changed his usual parking area. In the past, the car was always parked on a lower deck, but now it is in a corner parking lot next to a pickup or truck from which can take refuge. “
