SINGAPORE – A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty on Wednesday (September 16) to taking explicit upskirt and up-shirt videos almost daily for a period of more than five months in 2018, when he was a psychology student at the University. Nanyang Technological. (NTU).

In total, 334 unknown women were victims of the man, Shaun Ho Yan Liang, between February and July 2018 at various locations in Singapore, including his university campus.

His crimes came to light when he was caught in the act by the boyfriend of one of his victims at a FairPrice outlet on Eastpoint Mall in Simei.

He was convicted of two counts of insulting the modesty of women, as well as one count of possession of obscene videos.

Another charge under the Movies Act will be considered for sentencing, scheduled for Sept. 23.

The court heard that on July 22, 2018, Ho followed the woman through the supermarket, recording videos of her buttocks and the area of ​​the shirt between 8.40 p.m. and 8.55 p.m.

He took 10 videos of her standing or squatting directly behind her and placing his blue Samsung S9 mobile phone below waist level or near ground level, with the phone’s rear camera pointed up, to shoot T-shirt videos. or upskirt.

He was wearing denim shorts and a baggy white T-shirt at the time.

Using a phone app called BVR, he was able to record the videos on his phone with a blank screen.

The woman’s boyfriend at the time caught Ho with his phone pointed under his shirt, detained him, and reported the incident to the store’s security officer.

Later, authorities found 459 videos of female victims on Ho’s phone.

On each occasion, Ho targeted women in shorts or skirts that he found attractive. He used his phone’s camera to record a video of the woman’s breasts, underwear, or crotch as she stood or squatted near her.

In addition to Eastpoint Mall, he admitted to taking videos of the women at several other locations, including a National Institute of Education School of Science lab, an airlift at NTU, and NTU’s North Spine student activity center.

Ho would even record the videos of his victims during the lessons at NTU.

Authorities also found 106 obscene and pornographic videos on Ho’s laptop.
