SINGAPORE: The weather in the second half of September is expected to be less humid than the first half, the Singapore Meteorological Service (MSS) said on Wednesday (September 16).

Some warm days and nights can also be expected, with temperatures reaching a maximum of around 34 degrees Celsius on some days.

In the next two weeks, the monsoon rain band is forecast to remain over the equatorial region of Southeast Asia.

This means moderate to heavy short-duration stormy rains can be expected in parts of the island between morning and afternoon on most days, and can extend into the evening in a day or two, MSS said.

On some mornings, widespread torrential rains with occasional gusty winds can be expected due to passing Sumatra storms.

In total, however, rainfall in the next two weeks is expected to be less than in the first fortnight, although overall September rainfall is expected to be well above average over most of the island.

In the first fortnight, wet weather brought cooler conditions on some days, with the lowest daily low recorded at 21.8 degrees Celsius at Paya Lebar on September 15.

On most days for the next two weeks, the daily temperature is expected to range between 25 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, with the mercury peaking at 34 degrees Celsius in a few days.

Some nights can be relatively warm with temperatures hovering around 28 degrees Celsius, MSS said.
