SINGAPORE: The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Wednesday (September 16) that citizens will receive local tourism vouchers to help businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement comes after Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said in August that vouchers of S $ 320 million will be handed out to encourage Singaporeans to support the tourism industry.

Q: Who is eligible to redeem SingapoRediscovers coupons and how much will I get?
A: Every Singaporean 18 and over this year will receive S $ 100 in SingapoRediscovers coupons.
An AS $ 10 subsidy will also be awarded for children’s and youth tickets for attractions and tours, STB said. Each adult can purchase up to six child or youth tickets at subsidized prices.
Q: When and where can I use the coupons?
A: Coupons can be used between December of this year and the end of June of next year on stays, attraction tickets, and tours that have been able to resume operations.
All licensed hotels, tourist attractions, and tours that have been approved by the STB to operate or reopen can benefit from this scheme.
Q: Can vouchers be used for food and beverage and retail purchases?
No. The coupons are intended to give a boost to certain sectors, said Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing. Managing the coupons is also kept simple to make it convenient for people.
Q: How do I redeem the coupons? Can they be resold?
A: Coupons will be provided in S $ 10 denominations through SingPass, and STB will launch a tender to designate platform providers for coupon redemption.
Using SingPass will help prevent fraud and the unauthorized transfer of coupons to others, said STB CEO Keith Tan. Other anti-fraud mechanisms will also be incorporated into the system as it is designed.
More details on the voucher redemption will be announced in November.
