One man’s attempt to set fire to an online zi char post failed when it became the target of criticism.
The reason? For calling the police about the grocer who had allegedly increased their order without their permission.
In his attempt to name and shame the position, the man alleged in a Facebook post on Saturday (September 12) that Lucky BBQ Seafood in Pasir Panjang had changed his order from small to medium dishes and attempted to charge him an additional $ 21.
The man had paid for the food before discovering the discrepancy and realized something was wrong when his order for four small plates and rice totaled $ 69, he told Lianhe Wanbao.
However, the man, who was having dinner with his family, only confronted the vendor after he was served a suspiciously large plate of cockles.
“The plate of cockles that was served was clearly a larger portion, not what I asked for. So I approached the grocer to ask for an explanation,” he recalled.
When confronted with the vendor, she told him that she had increased the size of the order because she was concerned her family would not have enough to eat, the man claimed.
“I thought it was very strange when I heard it. How can you take the liberty of increasing customer orders?”
He decided to call the police after the woman showed a hostile attitude and hit his money on his table while giving him a refund, he told the Chinese newspaper.
He also mentioned in his Facebook post that he only received a refund after police arrived at the scene and claimed that the woman had asked him to call the police.
In the same post, he cited several of a Google star’s reviews of the position complaining of similar incidents.
Unfortunately for him, his post drew criticism rather than commiseration, with many accusing him of wasting police time.
But the saga did not end there. Not long after the post circulated online, a woman who identified herself as the salesperson responded to her post, sharing her side of the story.
While he did not deny increasing the size of the plates, he claimed that he had read the order to the man before payment.
However, he got upset after the first course was served, he said.
“He started complaining and yelled in front of me that he had ordered a size S, why am I sending him a size M? [sic] I told him I would reduce the size of the remaining plates.
“He yelled, ‘I’m not satisfied, you’re cheating on me, you’re sorry.’
He then offered her a refund, but still called police when she did not apologize to him, he added.
According to the woman, one of the man’s companions even yelled at the police, who finally left after assuring him that the situation was a misunderstanding and reminding him not to raise his voice even if the clients did.
She concluded: “You can say what you want. My business is very good and customers keep coming back.”
