A boy was taken to the hospital after his foot got stuck on an escalator at VivoCity on Sunday afternoon (September 13).

The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) said it responded to a call for assistance at 1 Harbourfront Walk at 2.20 p.m.

Stomper Dee alerted Stomp to the incident and shared a photo of SCDF officers on an escalator between the second and first floors of the mall near Owndays.

“It caused a huge commotion from 2.30 to 3.00 pm,” he said.

“Aside from the SCDF officers, the mall staff and the safe distance ambassadors were on site, as many people had gathered to see what had happened.

“I was afraid of getting too close.”

He added that a dog was left bleeding after his leg got stuck on another escalator at VivoCity last month.

In response to a question from Stomp, a SCDF spokesperson said: “Upon SCDF’s arrival, a boy was found with his foot lodged in an escalator.

“SCDF released the boy with a hydraulic rescue tool.

“SCDF took the boy to the National University Hospital (NUH).”
