Manchester United want to earn a combined 30 million euros (£ 27.7 million) from the sales of the unwanted duo Diogo Dalot and Marcos Rojo, according to a report.
United have had a quiet transfer window to date, dominated by their lengthy pursuit of Jadon sancho. In fact, Donny van de Beek is the only confirmed arrival at Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils have plans to cut their squad before the October deadline. Several fringe players, including Dalot and Rojo, are on the starting list after failing to make their mark.
According to the Daily logUnited have now set their financial plans for the duo in stone.
UnitedExecutive Vice President Ed Woodward reportedly wants to recover the £ 20.3 million fee the club paid Porto for the Portuguese in 2018.
However, that might be a difficult question, given that it has hardly appeared lately. The 21-year-old only made 11 appearances last season and just four in the Premier League.
Although, his young age and potential for development means that he is still a valuable player.
Meanwhile, United wants £ 7.4 million for fellow defender Red. Like Dalot, the Argentine struggled for playing time last season and signed a loan with Estudiantes in January.
The last assessment comes after Red allegedly impressed head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in training. The central defender has reportedly held double training sessions since arriving from Argentina.
United’s efforts to get rid of Dalot and Rojo come against a backdrop of speculation that highlights the fight to unload those fringe players.
All-star salaries are reportedly putting off interested clubs, leaving United in a quandary. They can force players to accept pay cuts to earn moves or agree to a reward.
WRIGHT URGES SOLSKJAER TO SIGN THE MAN CITY GOAL
On the other hand, Ian Wright says United should try to sign Kalidou Koulibaly in an attempt to improve their defense.
Solskjaer wants a new long-term central defender partner for Harry Maguire, with several previously promoted names.
Among them is Koulibaly, who is also a strong target for Manchester City. And Wright feels that taking the Senegal international to Old Trafford would solve United’s “real problems.”
