SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed 86 new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore as of Friday (September 11), bringing the country’s total to 57,315.
The figure was revised from 87 with the elimination of one case classified as imported after an investigation, the Health Ministry said.
“Case 57451 has submitted medical records documenting that it had previously recovered from COVID-19 infection and is no longer infectious,” he added.
The ministry also announced an additional group of five total cases linked to the SCM Tuas Lodge at 80 Tuas South Boulevard.
Among the 86 new cases, all but one are asymptomatic and were proactively detected, the Health Ministry said. There are no community cases and 13 imported cases. Of the 73 cases living in foreign workers’ dormitories, 33 are from the Avery Lodge Dormitory.
Overall, 14% of new cases have no established links.
Among the 13 imported cases, three are Singaporean and seven are permanent residents who returned to Singapore from Egypt on August 27, India on August 28 and August 30, and the Philippines on August 30.
Two others are dependent pass holders who arrived from India on August 30 and from the US on August 30. The remaining case is the holder of a student pass that arrived from India on August 30.
All of them had received a 14-day stay-at-home notice upon arrival here and had been evaluated while serving their notice at specialized facilities, the Health Ministry said.
The ministry noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of three cases per day in the previous week, to an average of two per day in the last week.
Similarly, the number of unrelated cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of two cases per day in the previous week to an average of one per day in the past week.
39 cases in dormitories of foreign workers detected through surveillance tests
Among the 73 cases residing in dormitories, 34 had previously been identified as previous case contacts and had already been quarantined and evaluated during the quarantine, the Health Ministry said.
The remaining 39 cases were detected by surveillance tests.

About 99% of all cases have recovered
With 49 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Friday, 56,607 cases, or 98.8% of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 49 hospitalized cases are stable or improving, while none are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 632 patients with mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for in community facilities.
