SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 63 new cases of COVID-19 as of noon on Thursday (September 10), including two in the community and six imported infections.
Fifty-six of the cases were asymptomatic and were detected through screening and proactive surveillance, he said. the Ministry of Health (MINSA).
One of the community cases involves a Singaporean who is linked to three imported cases. They were members of his family who had returned from India and were serving their notice to stay home in a dedicated facility.
The 36-year-old man was identified as Case 57312.
“While Case 57312 had not traveled abroad with them, he had requested to care for his spouse and young children at SHN facilities and was in isolation with them since Aug. 24,” the ministry said.
The other community case, a holder of a work permit, is not currently linked. The 33-year-old Chinese citizen’s infection was detected as a result of the routine tests listed on workers in the construction, marine and process sectors living outside of dormitories.
The six new imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore. They had returned from the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Russia and the Philippines.
The remaining 55 cases involve work permit holders residing in the dormitories of migrant workers. Of these, 26 had been identified as contacts from previous cases and have already been quarantined.
The other 29 were detected through surveillance tests.

TWO NEW CLUSTERS
Two new clusters were identified Thursday: 26 new cases were detected in the Avery Lodge dormitory, while eight more cases were linked to PPT Lodge 1A at 8 Seletar North Link.
This brings Singapore’s case count to 57,229.
66 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, bringing Singapore’s total recoveries to 56,558.
There are 47 cases still in the hospital, most of which are stable or improving. Another 597 are isolated and cared for in community facilities.
A new location, Yaleju-Tong Bei Huo Guo in Geylang, was added to a list of places visited by COVID-19 community cases during their infection period.
Singapore health authorities said on Wednesday that TraceTogether tokens will be distributed to all residents starting on September 14, in a bid to boost the existing contact tracing regime.
The Health Ministry also said it will test the SafeEntry implementation that requires the use of the TraceTogether app or the token to register at the venues.
This will be tested first in places where there are larger groups gathering, especially when attendees have to interact closely with each other or where the masks are not worn all the time due to the nature of the activities.

On Wednesday, Temasek Holdings CEO Ho Ching announced that all Singapore residents can collect a pair of reusable white cloth masks as part of another initiative organized by the Temasek Foundation.
The collection begins September 21 at 10 a.m. and ends October 4, while pre-orders for those who want additional skins or skins in colors other than white are from September 13 to October 2.
Residents will need to scan the barcodes on their NRIC, FIN, driver’s license, or any government-issued ID (with barcode) to pick up their masks from vending machines located throughout the island.
