SINGAPORE – The Changi Airport Group (CAG) appointed veteran public servant Tan Gee Paw as its interim president following the resignation of Liew Mun Leong, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said on Thursday (September 10).
Tan, who was chairman of the national water agency PUB from April 2001 to March 2017, has been a director of the CAG board since May 2017. Mr. Liew announced his resignation from his commercial and public service duties Thursday night, days after the High Court acquitted Ms. Parti of robbing Mr. Liew and his family. The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation (AGC) is conducting a review of the case.
In its statement, the MOF said: “The Ministry of Finance has taken note of the observations of the Superior Court judge and the additional review that the AGC is conducting.”
The MOF also recognized the important contributions that Mr. Liew, as the founding president of CAG since 2009, had made to the development of Changi Airport as a premier air hub.
“Under his leadership, CAG has completed Terminal 4 and Jewel, and Changi Airport has won multiple awards as one of the best airports in the world,” he added.
“The ministry thanks Mr. Liew for his contributions to public service.”
In a separate statement regarding Mr. Liew’s resignation, CAG thanked Mr. Liew for his many years of service to the company, as well as for his contributions to the development of Changi.
