COVID-19 testing will be required prior to departure for travelers from India who are not residents of Singapore

SINGAPORE: Travelers with a recent travel history to India who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents will soon need to undergo a COVID-19 test before departing for Singapore, the task force said on Wednesday (September 9). from multiple COVID-19 ministries.

The announcement was made during a press conference held by the task force, amid reports of a resurgence of infections in India. Singapore has also observed a significant number of imported cases with a history of recent travel to India, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a press release on Wednesday.

To reduce the risk of importation of COVID-19 cases from India, travelers who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents and with a history of travel to India in the last 14 days before entering Singapore should take a COVID polymerase -19. chain reaction test.

The test must be done within 72 hours prior to your departure and a valid negative result must be submitted as a condition for approval to enter Singapore.

The requirement applies to those arriving in Singapore after midnight on September 17, in addition to existing terms that require such travelers to provide a 14-day stay-at-home notice in dedicated facilities and a negative COVID-19 test. before the notice ends.

“As the global situation evolves, we will continue to adjust our border measures to manage import risk and any transmission to the community,” the Ministry of Health said in its press release.

Singapore reported 75 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 14 of them imported.
