SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 75 new cases of COVID-19 as of noon on Wednesday (September 9), with a community infection, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its preliminary update.

This brings the national total to 57,166.

The only community case is a work pass holder, the ministry said.

There are also 14 imported cases, all of which were placed on a stay-at-home notice upon arrival in Singapore.

Among the 60 cases residing in dormitories, the Health Ministry said 31 are from the Westlite Toh Guan dormitory.

The Health Ministry said that most of these cases had been previously quarantined and were analyzed during the quarantine to determine their status.

The remaining cases were detected through surveillance tests, such as routine tests with biweekly lists from the Ministry of Health.

More updates will be announced later Wednesday, the ministry said.

Several places were added on Tuesday to the list of public places visited by COVID-19 cases in the community during its infectious period.

These new locations included three restaurants at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Two of NTU’s locations are restaurants in the university’s North Spine Plaza: the food court there and Paik’s Bibim. The third location is also a food establishment, Quad Cafe at NTU’s School of Biological Sciences.

Additionally, the S11 Dormitory @ Punggol was identified as a new group of COVID-19 after a newly confirmed case was linked to 13 previous infections.

The bedroom at 2 Seletar North Link was previously Singapore’s largest COVID-19 conglomerate with 2,846 cases before the Ministry of Health reported it as closed on August 8.
