SINGAPORE: On Sunday (September 6), new groups of COVID-19 were identified in three dormitories of migrant workers that were previously cleaned of the coronavirus, with a community case linked to one of the groups.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported Sunday that new groups have emerged in Cassia @ Penjuru at 15 Penjuru Walk, CDPL Tuas Dormitory at 6 Tuas South Street 15, and Kranji Lodge 1 at 12 Kranji Road.
All three dormitories had been declared isolation areas in April under the Infectious Diseases Act before they were declared COVID-19 free last month.
Of the 40 new COVID-19 cases reported in Singapore on Sunday, 23 cases lived in dormitories.
One of the four community cases, a 34-year-old Indian national, was linked to CDPL Tuas’ new group of dormitories. It was detected as part of the routine tests of the Ministry of Health of workers in the construction, marine and processes that live outside the bedrooms.

NEW CLUSTERS
Seven of the newly confirmed cases were linked to 10 previous cases to form the new group at CDPL Tuas Dormitory, which was declared free of COVID-19 on August 10.
Before the cluster was shut down, more than 2,000 infections were linked to it, making it one of the largest COVID-19 clusters in Singapore.
Thirteen previously confirmed cases were linked to form the new group at Cassia @ Penjuru. The bedroom was declared COVID-19 free on August 10. Before the group was closed, it had more than 1,900 linked cases.
Five previously confirmed cases were linked to form the new group at Kranji Lodge 1. The dormitory was linked to more than 670 cases before it was declared COVID-19 free on August 8.
All foreign workers’ dormitories were declared COVID-19 free by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) on August 19, including separate blocks in specially constructed dormitories that serve as isolation or quarantine facilities.
But in recent weeks, new clusters of COVID-19 have been identified in previously disease-free bedrooms.
New clusters have also been reported at Sungei Tengah Lodge, Homestay Lodge, Tuas View Dormitory, Changi Lodge 2, North Coast Lodge, Toh Guan Dormitory, Cochrane Lodge 2, Westlite Toh Guan, Blue Stars Dormitory, Cochrane Lodge 1, Mandai Lodge 1 and Tuas Sur Bedroom.

Dorm-housed workers and those in the construction, marine and process industries, as well as those going to workplaces, must undergo routine tests listed every 14 days.
