Barcelona are considering dropping their demands for star Lionel Messi, according to reports.
The Argentine shocked the soccer world by submitting a transfer request to end his 20-year association with Barça, which is believed to be the culmination of several years of frustration with the club’s hierarchy.
With the decision made, Messi believes he should be able to activate a contractual clause that would allow him to terminate his current contract and leave for free.
But Barça argue that Messi did not meet the May 31 deadline to activate the clause and the clubs must now comply with his 700 million euro buyout clause.
