Barcelona are considering dropping their demands for star Lionel Messi, according to reports.

The Argentine shocked the soccer world by submitting a transfer request to end his 20-year association with Barça, which is believed to be the culmination of several years of frustration with the club’s hierarchy.

With the decision made, Messi believes he should be able to activate a contractual clause that would allow him to terminate his current contract and leave for free.

But Barça argue that Messi did not meet the May 31 deadline to activate the clause and the clubs must now comply with his 700 million euro buyout clause.

However, a report in the Telegraph He has claimed that the Catalan giants might be willing to compromise and would instead be willing to accept 100 million euros to sell off their superstar.

Messi’s father and agent, Jorge, met with Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu on Wednesdays to solve the problem.

Jorge told reporters upon arrival in Barcelona that it would be “difficult” for his son to stay at the Camp Nou.

Manchester City, PSG and Inter Milan have all been linked to the 33-year-old.
