“The fire went out in 15 minutes.”

According to the publication, SCDF was alerted to the fire around 1.40 a.m.

“The fire involved the contents of a living room in a unit on the sixth floor,” SCDF said.

“SCDF firefighters wearing respiratory equipment forced their way into the smoke-filled unit. SCDF extinguished the fire with a jet of water.

“Firefighters rescued four occupants and their two-bedroom pet dog.

“SCDF transferred the four occupants to Singapore General Hospital to inhale smoke.

“About 70 residents of the affected block were evacuated by the police as a precaution.

“Preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire indicates that it was electrical in origin from a personal mobility device (PMD) that was being charged at the time of the fire.”

In the Facebook post, SCDF also reminded the public about PMD fire prevention with the following fire safety tips: go.gov.sg/pmdfiresafetytips

SCDF also added that non-UL2272 PMDs pose a fire hazard and owners of these devices are strongly advised to dispose of their devices in the appropriate recyclers.
