From screams of rage to chairs thrown onto a nearby road, a Tampines coffee shop recently became the site of a violent collapse, all over an iced cup of Milo.
A man who appeared to be in his early twenties was enraged at Kopi House 1990, located at 81 Tampines Street, on Tuesday night (September 1) after he was told he could not have his drink, Shin Min Daily News reported.
The man, who remains nameless, was trying to buy a cup of iced Milo. However, he claimed he had no money to pay for the $ 1.60 drink, an employee at the beverage stall told the Chinese newspaper.
“I told him we couldn’t sell it to him. Then all of a sudden he yelled angrily, grabbed a chair and threw it on the booth,” he said. “Fortunately, it didn’t affect any of the customers. But the people sitting nearby were scared.”
The man continued to yell as he picked up more chairs and threw them onto a nearby road, causing oncoming vehicles to slow down to avoid them.
According to another cafeteria worker, the man even tried to throw a metal incense container. A stall owner managed to stop him in time, he said.
A domestic worker arrived on the scene shortly looking for the man, the beverage booth employee said, adding that he recognized her because she frequently shopped for Milo at the booth.
Reports of the man’s outburst divided netizens.
There could be more than meets the eye, some said, guessing she might have special needs.

However, many criticized his behavior, arguing that his violent response was disproportionate and could have endangered members of the public.
