Remote ez-link card reload with enhanced cards for 2,000 travelers in the LTA pilot program, Singapore News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – More than 2,000 selected travelers received an enhanced ez-link card that can be recharged with an ez-link app starting Tuesday (September 1), in a pilot program launched by the Land Transportation Authority (LTA).

Enhanced card users can also view their travel history and fare charges when using the TL SimplyGo app, which was launched last year.

With the expanded service, travelers will no longer need to queue to reload their ez-link cards at the ticket machines. Users can top up their family member’s cards by adding them to their account.

They can also submit claims and refund requests, as well as keep track of where they’ve traveled and the fee incurred.

LTA said that after the pilot program, travelers could similarly update their cards next year. The authority plans for all travelers in Singapore to use SimplyGo in the coming years.

The move is part of Singapore’s ongoing efforts to leverage technology for convenience and better service.

Nicholas Lee, CEO of EZ-Link, said “no one will be left behind in the process.”

Ticketing services, such as recharges, will be available at ticket vending machines and at TransitLink ticket offices, as they are now, so that those without access to mobile apps can continue to use public transportation.
