The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has ordered the operators of three food establishments to close their facilities for failing to comply with safe management measures.
S-Tripes Hotpot, a restaurant located on Havelock Road, will have to close from tomorrow until September 11, after SFA officials discovered it had breached the measures multiple times.
This included the sale of alcoholic beverages after 10:30 pm.
Restaurant staff transferred the alcoholic beverages to empty green tea kettles and bottles before serving to avoid detection.
The staff either did not wear masks, or did not wear them correctly despite being reminded to do so.
The restaurant was fined $ 2,000 for the crimes.
Whimsical Bar on Science Park Drive was ordered to close with immediate effect after SFA officers found patrons consuming alcoholic beverages after 10:30 p.m.
The bar had allowed groups of more than five people to sit together and mingle, the SFA said in a statement last night.
The bar was also found to be operating without a grocery store license, and the tables were less than a meter apart.
Whimsical Bar will have to remain closed until a license is obtained, the agency said.
Its adjacent unit, Create Kitchen, also violated similar security management measures and was ordered to close from tomorrow until September 11.
Both businesses were fined $ 1,000 each for the crimes.
Under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act, first-time offenders can be sentenced to a fine of up to $ 10,000, imprisoned for up to six months, or both.
Repeat offenders face a fine of up to $ 20,000, imprisonment for up to 12 months, or both.
