SINGAPORE: A man was accused on Friday (May 15) of violating COVID-19 laws by inviting a friend to his home for alcohol, before taking him home while he was drunk.
Malay Arvinish N Ramakrishnan, 23, was charged with two counts under COVID-19 regulations and a traffic offense for driving his motorcycle while intoxicated.

According to the charge sheets, Arvinish violated regulation 6 of COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulation 2020 by drinking alcohol with a man named Siddhartha Gauthma A / L Robat.
They consumed alcohol in the Arvinish apartment in Block 325, Yishun Central between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. on April 19, according to upload sheets.
Around 3 in the morning of that day, the couple left the Arvinish apartment. Arvinish allegedly rode his motorcycle to send his friend Siddhartha to his home in Block 288, Yishun Avenue 6.
At 3.10 in the morning, Arvinish was found along Yishun Avenue 6 with at least 43 micrograms of alcohol per 100 ml of breath, exceeding the limit of 35 micrograms per 100 ml.
Arvinish intends to plead guilty and will return to court to do so on May 27.
If convicted of meeting with another person who does not live in the same home for a social purpose under COVID-19 regulations, you can be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S $ 10,000, or both.
The same penalties apply for leaving your home without a reasonable excuse during the “circuit breaker” period.
For driving your motorcycle while intoxicated, you can be jailed for up to one year, fined between S $ 2,000 and S $ 10,000 or both.
