SINGAPORE: A devastating fire broke through a warehouse in Tuas early Wednesday morning (May 13), causing the collapse of some of its walls.
Firefighters responded at 6.20 am to the fire at 2B Tuas Avenue 12, which engulfed the second floor of a two-story warehouse, the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post.
Sixteen emergency vehicles, 70 firefighters and eight portable water jets were added to contain the fire, he added.
“Firefighters faced intense heat from the fire, which caused the walls of the facilities to rupture,” SCDF said.
The warehouse contained machinery and bales of plastic resin, he added.
The fire was extinguished at approximately 7.50 a.m., but firefighters still wetted the burned surfaces to prevent flames from rekindling, the SCDF said in the post published at 8.44 a.m.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, he added.
