Otters family seen on a day trip to KK Hospital, Singapore News

There is no such thing as staying home or distancing yourself socially, at least not for these creatures at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

In a video uploaded to Facebook last Friday (May 8), a family of seven otters could be seen running around the hospital lobby.

But even otters had to abide by the non-visitor rule, and the person behind the camera quickly pulled them away from the facility.

An alert security guard also helped prevent oncoming traffic from accidentally hitting the otters, before directing them down a pedestrian path.

Otters are believed to have come from the Rocher River along Bukit Timah, where they settled in the Singapore Botanic Garden.

Given their curious choice of location, netizens joked that the family had been taking their children for a health checkup, or perhaps the mother should undergo a checkup with her gynecologist.

The local otter observation group Ottercity identified the group as the “Zouk family,” the same family that made the headlines when they took a dip in a Newton condo pool.

The family has been searching for a new home since January. With fewer people and cars out during the circuit breaker, they have been seen in places like Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Mustafa and even at a service station in the past two months.

However, Ottercity has reminded observers to leave the animals ample room and avoid cornering them. They are also encouraged to send a message to the group or contact NParks or ACRES to inform them of the family’s whereabouts.
