SINGAPORE – McDonald’s will resume its delivery, takeout and self-service services starting Monday (May 11), the fast-food chain announced in a Facebook post on Sunday.

But he urged customers not to rush into their outlets.

McDonald’s said most of its restaurants will be open from 7 a.m. at 9 p.m.

It will not offer 24 hour service during the switch period. Its McCafe dessert kiosks and counters will also remain closed.

Some of its restaurants will have different opening hours and those located in parks, tourist attractions and some institutions will also be closed.

“We hope you understand, as this allows us to reduce the number of crew members in our restaurants and allows our senior staff to remain safe at home. Please be patient if it takes longer than usual to prepare your favorites.” Declared Facebook post.

He urged customers to observe security measures, such as temperature taking, safe distancing, and registration of SafeEntry if they visit food service outlets.

Customers can also place their orders through McDelivery, which will be contactless and will only accept cashless payments, or GrabFood.

All McDonald’s branches in Singapore closed as of 11 am on April 19, after seven of their employees, who had been deployed to nine different outlets, tested positive for Covid-19.

The health ministry had advised the fast-food giant to halt its operations until May 4 at its more than 135 outlets, including its take-out and delivery services.

A McDonald’s spokesman said the seven affected employees included a mix of restaurant managers and crew, and that none of them were delivery riders.

One of them had initially worked at the point of sale at Terminal 2 of Changi Airport, which closed on April 1. Over the next nine days, this employee was sent to work at three different outlets: Pasir Ris Central, Pasir Ris Sports Complex, and an Salida drive-in movie at a Shell gas kiosk on Tampines Avenue 2.

Five employees who worked at outlets in Lido, Forum Galleria, Parklane, and Geylang East Central were also diagnosed with Covid-19.

The resumption of delivery, takeaway and fast food chain delivery services comes amid Singapore’s easing of stricter measures on Covid-19 circuit breakers.

Since April 22, companies like independent food and beverage stores that sell only drinks, packaged snacks, candy, or desserts; hairdressing and hairdressing services; and pet food and supplies retailers have closed as part of the stricter measures.

Some companies may resume operations starting May 12, subject to restrictions.

All food outlets selling packaged snacks, cakes, sweets and desserts, home-based food businesses, as well as barbers and hairdressers may reopen, subject to restrictions.

Hairdressers can only offer haircuts, while eating is prohibited. Pet supply stores and retail laundry services, which have been restricted to online sales and deliveries since stricter measures for circuit breakers were implemented, may reopen physical stores.
