Being locked up at home during the coronavirus lockdown turned out to be too much for a British man.

While arguing with his wife, Dave Mitchell, 46, threw her from the balcony of his eighth-floor condo in Rayong, Thailand, on April 28.

He survived the fall after landing on a roof that extended from the unit below.

But the impact left Sukanda, 56, with a fractured hip and a dislocated arm.

When the police and paramedics arrived at the scene, the woman was screaming in pain and said that her husband had thrown her off the balcony.

She was rushed to Ban Chang Hospital for treatment.

After the altercation, Mitchell locked himself in the house and was seen singing prayers on the balcony.

Two hours of negotiations passed before the man allowed the police to enter the unit.

He was subsequently taken away for questioning at a police station.

A pair of bloody scissors on the ground floor were also seized as evidence, according to Thai reports.

Mitchell told officers that he was stressed that flights back to the UK were canceled due to the global pandemic. The tension led to a fight with his wife that escalated in the attack.

He has not left the condo in more than a month, Thai media reported.

Police have not yet charged the Briton with a crime as they wait to take Sukanda’s testimony.

Since the country closed in March, there have been several reports that Thais have killed themselves after their livelihoods were affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
