SINGAPORE – Three men were brought to court on Friday (April 17) for allegedly violating orders requiring them to stay in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak.

Singaporean Foo Ching Guan, 32, reportedly left his home on Kreta Ayer Road after receiving a stay-at-home (SHN) notice, while Indian citizen Vardireddy Nageswara Reddy, 35, and the citizen Chinese Liu Dufeng, 49, are accused of leaving their places. insulation

Foo was charged with a crime under the Infectious Disease Regulation 2020 (Covid-19 – Suspension Orders).

In a statement Thursday, the Immigration and Control Points Authority said Foo received the SHN after arriving from Thailand on March 17.

He was supposed to stay at his home from then until March 31, but he allegedly left on March 29 in a private rental vehicle to meet a friend in Sengkang Central to attend to some personal matters.

Foo intends to plead guilty and will return to court on April 23.

Liu faces two charges under the Infectious Diseases Act, while Vardireddy has been slapped with one charge.

Both men were supposed to be held in isolation on separate orders from the Director of Medical Services. Their places of isolation were removed from court documents, but they showed that Liu was supposed to be isolated between February 12 and 24.

He allegedly left his place of isolation without the director’s permission on February 19 and 21.

Vardireddy, who was allegedly isolated from February 16 to 25, allegedly committed a similar crime on February 24. Court documents did not indicate where the men traveled.

Vardireddy intends to plead guilty and will return to court on April 23. Liu’s pre-trial conference will take place on May 8.

On Thursday, two Singaporean men were in court for SHN-related crimes. They include Alan Tham Xiang Sheng, 34.

Tham, who runs an online sales business, had previously pleaded guilty to a crime under the Infectious Diseases Act.

Despite this, he went to different locations across the island, including Peninsula Plaza on North Bridge Road and Kampung Admiralty Hawker Center on Woodlands Drive 71, where he had some bak kut teh.

The other man is 48-year-old news vendor Palanivelu Ramasamy.

He faces a charge under the 2020 Infectious Diseases Regulation (Covid-19 suspension orders).

He allegedly left his Towner Road apartment on March 30 and traveled by bus to Goldhill Plaza near Thomson Road to deliver newspapers.

Palanivelu had arrived in Singapore from India on March 21, after spending about a month there.

He was treated with an SHN and was not to leave his home for 14 days.

The Palanivelu pre-trial conference will take place on April 22 and Tham will be sentenced the next day.

Offenders convicted of violating your SHN can be jailed for up to six months and fined up to $ 10,000.
