SINGAPORE (STOMP) – Five suspected drug criminals were arrested during a compliance operation conducted by the Central Narcotics Office (CNB) on Tuesday (April 14).

All five suspects are Singaporean in their 20s, and a “wide variety of drugs” worth at least $ 360,000 were seized during the raids, CNB said Thursday.

In a statement, the CNB said its officers intercepted a car driven by a suspected 22-year-old drug offender Tuesday night on 11 Yishun Street, just as he was about to leave the parking lot.

Officers searched the white BMW sports car and found around 1,400 g of heroin, cash worth $ 12,600 and a knuckle.

The suspect was taken to his nearby home, where approximately 2,100 ecstasy tablets, 4,100 tablets of Erimin-5, 6 g of ketamine, 22 g of ice, 32 g of ecstasy powder and 66 g of cannabis were found, the CNB said .

“Drug paraphernalia such as makeshift smoking devices, a digital scale and $ 9,000 cash and RM912 were also found,” he added.

Meanwhile, another group of CNB officers raided a residential unit on 9 Yishun Avenue, where they arrested a suspicious 21-year-old woman and a suspicious 24-year-old man.

Fourteen ecstasy tablets and 43 g of cannabis were found in the unit.

On the same afternoon, another group of CNB officers arrested a suspicious 24-year-old man in the lobby of the one-block elevator on Yishun Avenue 4.

A total of $ 11,950 in cash was found in a vehicle rented by the suspect.

The suspect was taken to his home where around 3 g of ice, 2,362 g of heroin and 12 ecstasy tablets were found. CNB officers also recovered a karambit knife and a stun device during the search. A suspicious 23-year-old woman was also arrested when she returned to the unit.

Investigations into the drug activities of all suspects are ongoing.

“The 3.76 kg of heroin seized is enough to fuel the addiction of approximately 1,790 abusers for a week,” CNB said, adding that it will continue to carry out drug control operations during the Covid-19 outbreak.
