SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 528 new cases of COVID-19 as of noon Thursday (April 30), bringing the national count to 16,169.
The vast majority of new cases are work permit holders residing in residences for foreign workers, the Ministry of Health (MS) said in its daily update of preliminary figures.

Six cases are Singaporean or permanent residents.
“We are still working on the details of the cases, and more updates will be shared through the Health Ministry press release to be released tonight,” the ministry added.

Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said on Wednesday that some people are Deliberately spreading fake videos to “fuel trouble” in foreign workers’ dormitories.
These videos can lead to serious law and order incidents, he said, adding that authorities were watching the people who released the videos “with great care” and will charge them if a crime was committed.
His comments came when hundreds of thousands of foreign workers were barred from leaving their dorms to curb the spread of COVID-19, as they make up the majority of Singapore’s new cases every day.
