Fred’s personal trainer points out five key improvements to the rebirth of the Man Utd star

Fred’s ability to manage all factors influencing performance has been key to finally finding a way at Manchester United.

That’s according to his personal trainer Tulio Horta, who says he has helped improve the Brazilian’s physical conditioning, sleep quality, nutrition, hydration and mentality.

José Mourinho cut £ 52m at Fred in 2018, and great things were expected from the midfielder who had impressed in Shakhtar Donetsk.

But Fred had a steamy time in his first season at Man United, with Roy Keane among experts suggesting he was one of the club’s worst signings.

Many expected Fred to fall further down the hierarchical order at Old Trafford when OIe Gunnar Solskjaer took over, as he had no obligation to interpret it.

But Fred has established himself as a mainstay on the United team this season, and is one of the first names on Solskjaer’s team sheet.

Analyzing the areas in which Fred has improved, Horta told the MEN: “I can say that the merit is entirely yours. You have spent a lot of time getting where you are today.

“We know that performance is not easily achieved, commitment, effort and self-responsibility are necessary and Fred did all of these factors very well together with the club, which does an excellent job with all the players.”
