SINGAPORE – Nine new imported coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Friday (December 18).
All were placed on stay-at-home or isolated notices upon arrival in Singapore.
The Ministry of Health (MINSA) said there were no community cases or workers’ dormitories.
The latest cases bring Singapore’s total to 58,386.
More details will be announced on Friday evening.
On Thursday, there were 24 new cases of coronavirus, all imported.
This was the highest number of imported cases since March 28, when there were 42.
The most recent cases were placed on stay-at-home notices or isolated upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.
There were no new community cases and none of the workers’ bedrooms.
One of the imported cases is a member of the crew of a ship that arrived from Indonesia. The special pass holder did not disembark from the ship and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance after he developed symptoms on December 10.
The imported cases include 13 Singaporeans or permanent residents who returned from Austria, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and the United Kingdom.
The remaining cases are four work pass / work permit holders currently employed in Singapore, five dependent pass holders and one student pass holder.
The holders of the work pass and the work permit came from India, Indonesia and the Maldives, while the holders of the dependent pass came from the United Kingdom.
The Health Ministry said the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with no new cases in the last week.
With 14 cases discharged on Thursday, 58,237 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 33 patients remained in the hospital as of Thursday night, none in intensive care, and 63 patients were still recovering in community facilities.
Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 74.2 million people. More than 1.6 million people have died.
