SINGAPORE – Two people tested positive for Covid-19, out of 876 merchants in and around Tekka Center who attended community surveillance tests on Thursday (Nov 26).

Both cases detected in the surveillance tests are likely to be past infections, as indicated by the results of serological tests, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said Sunday night.

The remaining 874 people tested negative for the coronavirus.

The second of the two patients was confirmed positive on Friday and the Health Ministry announced it on Sunday.

The man, a 41-year-old Indian citizen, has a work permit and works as a warehouse assistant.

He was asymptomatic and was taken to the National Center for Infectious Diseases when his test came back positive on Friday.

His job involves taking inventory at the warehouses located on Cuff Road and delivering products to the Jothi Store and Flower Shop at 1 Campbell Lane, the Health Ministry said, adding that he does not interact with customers in the store.

The Health Ministry also said that it generally works with a warehouse assistant in warehouses, who was also swabbed Thursday and tested negative for Covid-19.

Two other migrant workers staying with the man on Cuff Road also tested negative, the Health Ministry said.

Seven imported cases were also announced on Sunday, bringing Singapore’s total to 58,213.

Among them, one is a holder of a long-term visit pass that arrived from Russia, while another is a holder of a student pass that arrived from India.

Three others are work permit holders who came from Indonesia.

The remaining cases are holders of short-term visitation passes.

One is a 39 year old citizen of the Ivory Coast who came from Malta. The engineer came here on a work project.

The other holder of a short-term pass is a 58-year-old Belarusian who came from Belarus to participate in a mixed martial arts sporting event as a cornerback.

The Health Ministry said the seven had been placed on stay-at-home notices or were isolated upon arrival in Singapore, and were assessed while in quarantine.

Meanwhile, the ministry added a new location to a list of places visited by Covid-19 patients while they were infectious.
