87 drug suspects captured in an island-wide operation, including a 16-year-old; drug seizure worth S $ 400,000

SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said on Saturday (November 28) that it had arrested 87 suspected drug-related criminals during an island-wide operation carried out between November 23 and 27.

Among the drugs seized during the operation are 1,118 g of ice, 764 g of heroin, 149 g of cannabis, 1 g of ketamine, 1415 g of new psychoactive substances (NPS), 77 tablets of ecstasy, 155 tablets of Erimin-5 , two LSD (lysergic acid). diethylamide) and five bottles and a packet containing a liquid believed to be liquid methamphetamine.

“The seized drugs are estimated to be worth close to S $ 400,000,” CNB said. “The youngest arrested in this island-wide operation is a 16-year-old Singapore drug abuse suspect.”

The operation was carried out in areas such as Aljunied, Boon Lay and Buangkok.

HIDDEN DRUGS IN THE PACKAGING OF SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

In one case on November 23, CNB officers arrested four people in the vicinity of Sumang Lane and Pasir Panjang Road.

A 39-year-old Singaporean man was arrested in the area around Sumang Lane, and a 46-year-old woman, a permanent resident of Singapore, was detained when she returned to the man’s residence on the same estate.

A search was conducted and a total of 15 packages containing approximately 339 g of ice, seven ecstasy tablets and 90 Erimin-5 tablets were recovered from the unit, CNB said.

The five bottles and a packet of suspected liquid methamphetamine, which were hidden in the packaging of skin care products, were also seized in the raid on the residential unit.

“In a follow-up operation, CNB officers raided an industrial unit in the vicinity of Pasir Panjang Road and arrested a 47-year-old Singaporean man and a 28-year-old foreigner there,” CNB said.

“A total of 0.1 g of ice and 60 tablets of Erimin-5 were seized from the 47-year-old man, and approximately 1 g of ice was later recovered from his residence in the vicinity of Balestier Road.”

TWO CHILDREN PRESENT DURING ARRESTS

In another case, also on November 23, two men and two women between the ages of 19 and 29 were arrested in a residential unit in the Lengkok Bahru area. They are all Singaporeans.

A total of six packs containing approximately 3 g of ice were recovered in the unit.

Two young children were present while the arrests were made and are now in the custody of a close relative.

“The 5-year-old son of the 26-year-old woman and the 4-month-old son of the 19-year-old woman were also present during the arrest,” CNB said.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the 19-year-old woman had brought her 4-month-old baby to the unit and then abused drugs along with the 29-year-old man and the 26-year-old man from the unit.”

STORAGE ROOM HIDDEN BEHIND A FALSE WALL

In a third case, on November 26, CNB agents arrested three Singaporeans, two men and one woman, between the ages of 24 and 25 in the vicinity of Edgefield Plains.

One of the suspects was found hiding in a hidden warehouse and was arrested after a fight.

“During the search of the unit, the CNB officers detected a warehouse behind a false wall. Agents rushed in and arrested a 25-year-old Singaporean who was hiding in the warehouse.

“The (man) had fought to resist arrest, and force was used to subdue him.”

In addition to 631 g of ice, 113 g of cannabis, and 16 ecstasy tablets, officers also seized S $ 25,393 in cash at the unit.

“Investigations into the drug-related activities of all the arrested suspects are ongoing,” CNB said.
