SINGAPORE (THE NEW DOCUMENT) – An eight-year-old girl who is in intensive care after being thrown from a van during an accident in Woodlands last Friday (October 23) is still in a coma, her father told media on Sunday. Morning.

The 45-year-old, who wanted to be known only as Mr. Tan, told the Chinese-language newspapers Shin Min Daily News and Lianhe Wanbao that the next day or two will be critical for his daughter’s recovery.

The girl was one of four people taken to the hospital after an accident involving a pickup truck and a red Audi car on Woodlands Avenue 12 toward the Seletar Expressway last Friday night.

Police said they were alerted to the incident around 8:10 p.m., and three passengers from the van, ages eight to 27, and one 32-year-old passenger were conscious when they were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

The driver of the truck, a 56-year-old man, was arrested for dangerous driving and causing injury. Police investigations are ongoing.

Over the weekend, images of the camera in the car of another car showing the accident and videos of other drivers about its consequences were posted on social media.

The videos show the red Audi traveling to the right of the two-lane highway before colliding with the truck, which was making a U-turn.

The impact caused both vehicles to turn and at least two people were thrown out of the truck, which is climbing onto a curb.

Mr. Tan said that his daughter needed emergency surgery at 4 am after being hospitalized, and was then transferred to the intensive care unit at KK Children’s and Women’s Hospital.

Aside from her head injury, the girl also fractured both legs, with the wound on her right leg so deep that the bone was exposed.

On Monday morning, Tan told Wanbao that although he was sad, he took time to fulfill his temple duties and bought breakfast at home to eat with his youngest daughter.

He said his friends and family have also been sending him messages of encouragement.

Brother in law

Tan also revealed that the driver of the van who was arrested is his brother-in-law, and his niece, 27, and nephew, 23, were also injured in the accident.

The latter required surgery because of a ruptured spleen and facial injuries, but is now conscious and is expected to be transferred to a regular ward.

The niece, who was in the front passenger seat, was in stable condition and was expected to be released on Sunday.

Tan’s youngest daughter, six, was also in the truck during the accident.

She is unharmed and is now staying with her aunt.

Tan told Wanbao that his brother-in-law and his family would normally pick up their two girls from school and have dinner.

At the time of the accident, they had just eaten and were on their way to meet him.

She said her brother-in-law, who is out on bail, has been constantly asking about their daughter’s condition.

Meanwhile, the Audi driver has not contacted Tan or his family.

Said Mr. Tan: “No one wanted this accident to happen and my brother-in-law’s children were also injured.

“I don’t blame him at all.”
