SINGAPORE – Eight new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Thursday (October 22), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,941.

They included a case of a worker’s bedroom, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Thursday.

There were also seven imported cases, which had been placed on stay-at-home notices when they arrived in Singapore.

There were no community cases.

More details will be announced Thursday night.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health reported that there were 12 new cases of coronavirus and all were asymptomatic.

The kits were all imported and comprised of nine work permit holders, two dependent pass holders and one short term visit pass holder.

All nine work permit holders had returned from Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines, while the two dependents’ pass holders returned from the United Arab Emirates.

The holder of the short-term visitation pass arrived from Egypt for his upcoming marriage to his fiancee from Singapore.

All imported cases had received a stay-at-home notice upon arrival in Singapore.

There were no new community cases. No new places visited by infectious patients were announced on Wednesday and no new groups were announced.

The number of new cases in the community has dropped from four two weeks ago to two last week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community has increased from none to two in the same period.

With two cases discharged on Wednesday, 57,806 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 43 patients remained in the hospital, while 41 recovered in community facilities. None were in intensive care.

Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 40.78 million people. More than 1.12 million people have died.
