SINGAPORE – Seven new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of Wednesday noon (Nov. 4), bringing Singapore’s total to 58,036.
They included five imported cases, which were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.
There were no new cases in the community and two in workers’ dormitories.
More details will be announced Wednesday night.
Nine new cases of coronavirus were confirmed on Tuesday.
They included two cases of workers’ dormitories, the ministry said, although no new community cases were announced.
The remaining seven new patients had come from abroad and had been assigned a stay-at-home notice upon arrival in Singapore. All of them had no symptoms.
Among the seven imported cases, six tested positive for the virus on Monday.
Among them were a 42-year-old Singaporean woman who returned from the Philippines and a 20-year-old permanent resident who came from India.
Another patient, a 26-year-old Bangladeshi dependent pass holder, arrived from Bangladesh.
Currently, three imported patients are employed in Singapore.
Of these, two were holders of work passes. One, a 49-year-old German, came from Germany, while the other, a 30-year-old Indian national, came from the United Arab Emirates.
A 33-year-old Bangladeshi woman, who has a work permit, came from Bangladesh.
The last imported patient, who tested positive on Sunday, had a special pass.
The 29-year-old Filipino arrived from the Philippines to board a ship docked here as a member of the crew.
Both dormitory patients were detected through routine screening of dormitory-living workers.
The Health Ministry said the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with a total of one of those cases last week, which is currently not linked.
With 13 cases discharged on Monday, 57,922 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
A total of 38 patients remained in the hospital Monday, none in intensive care, while 26 recovered in community facilities.
Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 46.8 million people. More than 1.2 million people have died.
